Emerging Issues is presented by...
The Emerging Issues Forum series provides a forum for speakers to address important issues relating to businesses and the community. We bring in experts to present on important topics that are designed to help the audience learn, grow and succeed. Topics vary each month.
This month's topic is supplier diversity. A diverse supplier is a business that is owned and operated by an individual or a group that is part of an underserved or underrepresented group; including minority-owned, women-owned and veteran owned businesses.
Attendees can expect to hear from speakers who operate supplier diversity programs within their organizations or support diverse suppliers through their work. Learn best practices for inclusive procurement and how your business can generate economic opportunity for disadvantaged communities.
Darlene Guinty - Supplier Diversity Business Analyst II, SRP
Darlene Guinty, Supplier Diversity Business Analyst II for Salt River Project, one of the nation’s largest public utility providers of water and power throughout Arizona businesses and residents. It does not seem she has been in this position for a little less than three years, as she brings a worth of knowledge and positive spirit to all areas of her responsibilities.
She is extremely gracious for the exposure shared by her former now retired manager Patricia (Patti) Pyle. Darlene’s responsibilities vary from researching, attending various matchmaking events and connects new supplier potential opportunities directly through to procurement teams; collaborates with the buyer/planners to ensure upcoming bidding potentials are fed to our diverse suppliers, and her most enjoyable practice is shares her internal workings of SRP protocols and knowledge of how to do business with SRP; for it really takes that professional perseverance and patience to build relationships.
Darlene serves in many local committee roles as SRP’s representative such as Women’s Business Enterprise-West Council, and Pacific Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council. Today, she is so proud to be a member of the black community for the past two years serving on the AZ MLK Planning Committee and recently served on the Phoenix Police Chief’s African American Advisory Board, liaison between the PPD.
Before supplier diversity she implemented new practices and guidelines working with the Investment Recovery/ Central Reclamation Services and Material Coordination department where she grow to understand the infrastructure while performing several different job titles.
